Sometimes you have to abandon ideas that don’t work and try again. In this case we thought getting horror stories from fans would work…but apparently people don’t want to post stories or maybe they don’t have any to share. When we saw little response we quickly changed it to the “Pick a Prize” model and sure enough we got 18 shares and our fan count went up 20%.
To boost fans I came up with a “creative” contest allowing fans to come up with a caption. I learned that contests involving too much work on the part of the fans don’t elicit the highest response. After getting only 10 entries and not many more fans we decided to turn this into a voting contest. The voting elicited a huge response with 87 votes and over 57 shares. We reached our goal of 500 fans. Then when we announced the winner we gave an extra boost by offering 10% off the the first 20 who shared the wining ad. Over 27 shared thus giving us another fan boost.
It’s so much fun when you see a successful campaign in action. Take Babyjax Gifts as an example…a great store that carries really cute things. Problem was the page needed more pizazz and a fan boost. So I came up with a fun giveaway that allows the fans to choose the color they like best. Within a few hours Babyjax Gifts gained 32 new fans. Over 1,407 people saw that post which received over 62 shares. In one evening Babyjax became known to hundreds who otherwise would never have heard of them.
